Over Memorial Day weekend I finally drifted back into my vending life, for the first time since my move to Florida almost two years ago.
I’d heard great things about The Sanford Indie Market & after making a million excuses as to why I probably shouldn’t, I bit the bullet & finally decided to throw my hat back in the ring.
(Wow, that was a lot of mixed metaphors, eh?)
Long story short, it was a FANTASTIC experience.
Sure, the weather was unseasonably warm even for Florida.
It easily topped over 100 degrees in the middle of the day.
Luckily my spot was nicely shaded & I had a cooler full of ice water.
Not beer.
Ice water.
And the fine folks at the venue, Tuffy’s Bottle Shop had great bands playing to keep spirits high.
A surprisingly funky version of “Jungle Boogie”, signaled the day would be alllll riiiiight.
And really it was much better than all right. Sales were, dare I say, BRISK.
I met an array of fine folks who are equally as passionate about all things vintage & hand-made.
I also made some marvelous connections with what I hope will eventually become a new family of fellow indie makers.
(Yes, from what I hear, we’re calling ourselves “Makers” now. I don’t judge; I just go with it)
Most interesting personally was being able to witness first hand just how crafty these millennial vendor chicas are with their collective social media game, marketing, and networking.
That ish is stellar & on point!
I’m not there…yet.
But I will be.
Admittedly I kinda relish my role as an elder stateswoman, freely offering wee kernels of experience gleaned from so many years in the game whilst eagerly soaking up their new-school, next-level vibrancy.
Wait, is that the people call SYNERGY? Ha.
At any rate, I’m really looking forward to the next year as I set up shop all over Central Florida.
There’s such freedom in no longer having a brick & mortar shop.
I’m diggin’ in ya’ll!
Let’s reclaim it all.
