Just a quick lil’ story about this fantastic necklace. I did not make it.
It was, however, the very first thing I purchased while perusing my very first estate sale in Florida almost two years ago. Back when I was still deciding if I actually wanted to stop talking about doing a fashion blog and actually DO a fashion blog.
I found out its original owner was a jewelry designer inspired by her travels abroad.
I’ll probably never know her name, but her passions were evident in her eclectic & worldly decor. It was an honor to observe her spirit still very much alive everywhere.
I purchased a few of her pieces that day, a few of which I can’t bear to part with.
This one needed a new home.
Over the last week I have been thrilled to see a few new reoccurring site visitors in Japan.
Today this necklace sold to a fellow fashion designer in Japan.
It makes my day & I’d like to think the original creator of the piece would be pleased her creation is movin’ on to another country, to another artist similarly inspired by her love of African textiles re-imagined.
This encapsulates part of the reason why I have always loved doing what I do.
“Let’s reclaim it all” is more than my blog catchphrase.
These are the stories I choose to tell & how I choose to live–
Proudly reclaiming it all.
